Dungen

 Dungen is the winning proposal for the new outdoor space in front of the Physics Department of Chalmers Technical University. The space should work as an entry to “Focus”, the student hang-out spot, during day- and night time. It was previously a paved area enclosed by pine trees and other vegetation. The change of topography in combination with the vegetation makes the space feel embracing and relaxing. Important factors was that it had to be low in cost and maintenance. The meaning of “dungen” in Swedish is basically an assemble of trees and vegetation, but in a more atmospheric sense. It is about being emerged and hugged by nature.
